UMass Boston’s first Social Justice Case Study Competition is underway, and the writing competitionapplication deadline has been extended to Wednesday, December 1, 2021. Participants have a chance to compete for a first-place prize of $1,000 and more within each sub-competition.
The UMass Boston Social Justice Case Study Competition provides an opportunity for faculty, staff, and students at UMass Boston and in the Greater Boston area to work together to create new knowledge related to issues involving bias, discrimination, diversity, equity, and inclusivity as it relates to the college experience. This competition is a city-wide initiative that helps advance UMass Boston’s goal of becoming a leading anti-racist and health-promoting campus.The competition is divided into two core sub-competitions:
Registration begins today, Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
Open to all undergraduate students, and graduate students (pursuing a master’s degree) who are enrolled at a college or university within the Greater Boston area
Entrants will be asked to either write and/or respond to a case study depending on which stage of the competition they enter. All case studies should be written for respondents to respond as an administrator of a college/university (i.e. dean, vice president, chancellor, etc.) and all respondents must respond as if they were an administrator from a college/university. Upon submission, all entries become the property of UMass Boston for qualified use within the institution’s website and other channels/platforms.
