Fellow

University of Massachusetts Boston My Brothers Keeper celebrates our member Handel Ulysse. Handel, initially born in Haiti, was inspired to pursue a degree in the medical field shortly after losing family members to the 2010 Earthquake. From then on, he knew he wanted to help others, whether through mentorship, medicine, or through the art of Music. Handel is an extraordinary violinist; he combined his passions by assisting patients and nurses at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital and Dutton Center through musical therapy.

As an aspiring Ph.D. nurse practitioner at UMass Boston, Handel holds a 3.7 GPA, is on the Dean’s List, is a McNair Post-bachelor Scholar, and an Honors College student. He has accomplished these goals while upholding over 500 hours of community service and works as a cancer research assistant. Most Recently, Handel was a moderator at the “Becoming Liberated and Knowledgeable Conference” and was a Co-coordinator for the Office of Diversity’s Student Engagement and Access Team. We are grateful for Handel joining the My Brothers Keeper community and displaying black excellence!
